I have found the easiest way to clean my cast iron skillet is with Kosher Salt!
Once the pan is cool, I sprinkle a generous amount of salt in the pan. Then with wet paper towel, I scrub the skillet with the salt. Within minutes, the dried crusty remains in the pan are gone. I rinse well, then dry the pan over medium heat on the stove, to prevent rust. Works perfectly!
