I recently posted about how to achieve Velvety Soft Hands. Well why stop there? You can have a soft, smooth and glowing complexion too. Sugar scrubs are not only great for your body, but great for your face too. Sugar is a natural humectant. A humectant is a substance that helps to retain moisture. It is also a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid, which aid in removing deal skin cells.
Both brown and granulates sugars make excellent facial scrubs. Brown sugar has even finer granules, so it is even gentler on your skin. Avoid using raw sugar(turbinado) which is considerably more coarse. Once you cleanse skin, simple apply about 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to damp skin. Rub gently in a circular motion to face and neck, avoiding eye area. Once done, rinse well and dry. Your skin will feel soft, smooth and will just glow! Moisturize as usual. If you will be in the sun after your treatment, be sure to use sunscreen to avoid sunburn. You can do this treatment a couple of times per week. Excessive use could irritate skin.
If you have extra dry skin, some people will combine the sugar with an oil base, such as olive or sunflower. I do not recommend doing this if you have oily skin.
When I slack and go a couple of weeks without exfoliating, I notice an immediate difference after just one application!
