With our busy schedule, a tidy house only lasts for so long. We only get small pockets of time get the house in order, so we have set up a “game” to get everyone involved, but more importantly, to get it done!
I set a timer for 15 minutes. We each pick a room or task, and in those 15 minutes, we see who can get the most work done. Its fun and competitive. The winner gets bragging rights and is then in charge of the timer for Round 2. It works really well and its amazing how many tasks are completed when you’re timed.
I’ve also used this game in 5-10 minute rounds if we have extra time before school or before bed. Sometimes the kids and I travel together in each room and do the 5 minute lightening rounds. They get so motivated! In about half an hour, we have tidied up the whole house! Without complaining!!!
